The DRM for Assassin’s Creed 2 requires that you always stay connected to the internet while you play. If you disconnect at any time you get kicked out of the game and lose the progress you’ve made since you’ve last saved.
It reminds me of when I used to play Morrowind on my PC and would have to save very often as my power supply was wonky and would restart the computer constantly and randomly.
Except, you know, that its mandated by the game’s creator now and is total horseshit.
If you buy the real version I encourage you to get a pirated version on the same day and play that instead.

This protects them for pirates how?
Jesus, this spam isn’t even advertising. What’s the point?
BTW, while I agree in theory about pirating on the same day, Ubisoft will just use that pirated copy as a “lost sale” to further justify their DRM. Sigh.
Some folks (Penny Arcade dudes, for instance) are pretty confident that the whole plot will be rescinded when Ubisoft figures out how much it hurts sales.

…sorry, couldn’t resist. ^_^;;
Man, that was a ridiculous amount of spam. Hopefully this authentication question will help.
And yes, Tyranichomp this wouldn’t protect them from pirates, but thinking up an in-game reason for having to always be connected to the net might help them sell this anti-piracy measure to Joe Walmart out there. People generally like to see that things have a cause and effect, even if under any scrutiny at all the logic falls apart completely.
